Indira Point is the Southernmost tip of India. First time in 18 Years, after the 2004 Tsunami, the National Flag was hoisted at Indira Point by any Civilian Employee of the Govt. of India.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay travelled all the way from Campbell Bay to Indira Point braving harsh terrains and hoisted the National Flag at Indira Point by following all necessary protocols.
Assistant Commissioner hoisted the National Flag at Indira Point on 13th August 2022.
At present, people can only reach Indira Point by trekking or by boat (during specific weather conditions).
The residents of Great Nicobar appreciated Dr. Nitin Shakya for travelling all the way to Indira Point and for hoisting the National Flag there.
