19th Anniversary of 2004 Tsunami to be Commemorated by A&N Administration

The 19th anniversary of the catastrophic 2004 Tsunami is set to be solemnly observed by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration on December 26, 2023, at the Tsunami Memorial, located at the Andaman Water Sports Complex in Aberdeen.

The Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration will lead the tribute-paying ceremony by offering floral tributes, joined by various dignitaries, in remembrance of the lives lost. To honour the memory of the departed souls, an All Religion Prayer Meeting (Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha) is scheduled to take place at the Memorial during the commemoration.

A call has been extended to the general public, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), Heads of Departments/Offices, as well as Officers/Officials of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, urging their presence at the Memorial by 7:45 am to participate in paying homage to those who lost their lives in the tragic event.

The occasion stands as a significant moment for reflection and collective remembrance, drawing together the community and administration in honouring the memory of those affected by the devastating Tsunami of 2004.
