The District Administration of South Andaman has reclaimed around 2,200 square metres of Government revenue land during a major eviction drive conducted under Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil on Saturday.

The operation was carried out at School Line and Garacharma villages as part of the Administration’s ongoing efforts to prevent unauthorized occupation of public property and safeguard community spaces. Revenue officials removed illegal fencing and one temporary structure erected on Government land at School Line village. Similar action was taken at Attampahad in Garacharma village, where tin-sheet temporary structures had been set up without authorization.

Officials stated that the encroached land has now been restored to its original condition. The Administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict vigilance and proactive monitoring across the district to ensure lawful use of Government land.

Residents have been urged to refrain from encroaching upon public property, warning that stringent legal action will be initiated against violators. To encourage public participation, the District Administration has opened multiple channels for reporting encroachments or illegal constructions.

Citizens can contact the District Control Room at 03192-240127, 238881 or 1070, or share information via WhatsApp at 9531888844. Authorities have assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

The Administration has indicated that similar eviction drives will continue in the coming days as part of its sustained campaign to protect Government land and ensure its proper utilization for public benefit.
