3-Day Workshop on PMGSY Projects Kicks Off in Sri Vijaya Puram

A three-day workshop aimed at enhancing the capacity and skills of officials and contractors working on the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Projects commenced on 7th November 2024,  at the Conference Hall of the Chief Engineer’s Office in Sri Vijaya Puram. The workshop includes field visits to provide hands-on training in the use of the eMARG App, designed to streamline project execution and monitoring.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Pradeep Agarwal, Joint Director General (Ex-C)/ DP-I, NRIDA, New Delhi, in the presence of key officials including Mr. T.K. Prijith Rekh, Chief Engineer of APWD, Mr. Shiv Singh Meena, Director of Rural Development, and representatives from NRIDA, C-DAC, NIC, and MPRRDA.

The primary goal of the workshop is to familiarise engineers from the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), and contractors with the functionalities of the eMARG Pre/Post-5-Year Defects Liability Period (DLP) Module. Sessions will provide detailed guidelines and practical training to ensure the effective use of the module, which is designed to monitor road maintenance and improve project management under the PMGSY.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Agarwal urged all participants to make the most of the training and effectively apply the eMARG Application in the execution of PMGSY works across the islands. He outlined the workshop’s curriculum, which includes expert-led sessions on topics such as road maintenance under DLP, the eMARG working modalities, the Gram Sadak Survey App, and the integration of eMARG with the OMMAS system. The goal is to improve the tracking and maintenance of road projects through the Ministry of Rural Development’s online portal, ensuring smoother fund flow to executing agencies.

Mr. T.K. Prijith Rekh, Chief Engineer of APWD, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the challenges faced by local agencies in maintaining rural roads due to a shortage of funds. He appealed to the Ministry of Rural Development to support the administration in utilizing PMGSY funds effectively for the upkeep of rural road infrastructure in the islands. He also stressed the importance of the training program and encouraged active participation from all attendees for successful implementation on-site.

Mr.Biju Varghese, Executive Engineer (Planning-I), concluded the session with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees for their involvement in the workshop.
