3 FIRs Registered in Connection with Diglipur Violence and Illegal Slaughtering of Bull

Three FIRs have been registered at PS Diglipur in connection with the violence at Diglipur which took place on 12th July 2022 and the case of illegal bull slaughtering for commercial purpose which led to the violence, due to some people giving it a communal angle.

FIRST FIR

FIR No. 28/22 dated 12/07/2022 was registered against three people Under Sections 3/6/10 of A & N Islands Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Regulation, 1967. The complainant, in this case, is a Panchayat Ward Member. 

According to details accessed by Nicobar Times from sources, on 12/07/2022 at about 0720 Hrs PS Diglipur received a call about a Cow Slaughtering Incident. The complainant informed that at about 0700 Hrs he received a call and the caller informed that the public has caught a person selling bull meat and the person has been taken to Forest Office, Navin Nagar. The complainant then reached the Range Office, Navin Nagar where the person selling the bull meat was present. The complainant asked the person selling the bull meat about who slaughtered the bull. The person selling the bull meat informed that he along with his brother-in-law and another person took the bull to a bagicha belonging to someone else located at Khudirampur at around 0600 hrs and they jointly slaughtered the bull. The complainant opined that the person selling the bull meat slaughtered the bull with two other persons which has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and requested the police to take necessary action against the three persons. Based on the complaint a case was registered.

None of the people named in the FIR for Bull Slaughtering belongs to the Muslim Community.

SECOND FIR

The second FIR was lodged against those involved in violence against the Electronics Shop Owner, Shop Owners son and staff of Shop Owner. FIR No. 29/22 dated 12/07/2022 was lodged Under Section 427/341/325/34 IPC. The complainant in FIR No. 29/22 is the owner of the vandalised Electronics Shop, his statement was taken at CHC Diglipur. The shop owner named two main accused who had come into his shop with several other persons at about 1030 Hrs on 12/07/2022 and started vandalising the inventory of his shop. The shop owner informed the police that he begged them to stop and asked the reason for vandalising his shop. The accused persons did not bulge and continued vandalising his shop. The shopkeeper tried to stop the accused persons from vandalising his shop and during that time the accused people started beating him, his son and his staff. The shopkeeper sustained injury on his shoulder, his son was hit on the head and his staff suffered a lot of injuries all over the body. All the inventory of his shop was broken and the shop owner also suffered financial losses. The shopkeeper, his son and his staff were saved anyhow by the Police personnel and were taken to CHC Diglipur, where they were undergoing treatment. The complainant informed that according to the doctor he suffered a fracture on his shoulder, his son and staff also suffered injuries. He blamed the accused people for injuries and financial loss suffered.

The shopkeeper, his son and staff belonged to the Muslim Community.

THIRD FIR

The third FIR was lodged against unknown person(s). FIR No. 30/22 dated 12/07/2022 was lodged Under Section 186/353/337/427 IPC read with section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. The complainant, in this case, is an IRBn Constable of PS Diglipur. The constable informed the Police that at around 0930 Hrs on 12/07/2022 people gathered at Diglipur Bazaar and started protesting due to an incident of cow slaughter at Khudirampur. The constable was deployed at Diglipur Bazaar for law and order arrangements. At around 1020 Hrs a large crowd started vandalising the goods at an Electronics Shop. He along with other police staff tried to stop the people gathered there from vandalising the goods of the shop. The crowd started punching and kicking the IRBn Constable due to which he sustained injuries on his head and knee. The crowd also broke the front windshield and back door glass as well as both side window glass of the Tata Sumo of PS Kalighat, which was parked on the roadside. He was taken to CHC Diglipur by Parakram and was undergoing treatment there. The constable stated that he can recognise those involved in the crime.
