43rd All India Official Language Conference Begins at Sri Vijaya Puram

The 43rd All India Official Language Conference-cum-Training Camp commenced yesterday at the Peerless Resort’s conference hall. The three-day event, organized by Bhartiya Bhasha & Sanskriti Kendra (BBSK), New Delhi, was inaugurated by Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Administration, in the presence of Dr. Anil Agarwal, Secretary of Official Language, A&N Administration, and other dignitaries.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Keshav Chandra emphasized the Central Government’s commitment to promoting and developing Hindi across the nation. He urged all attendees to work diligently towards the widespread use of Hindi at every level. Mr. Chandra expressed his gratitude to the organizers for choosing the A&N Islands as the venue for this prestigious event, stating that such initiatives would contribute significantly to the propagation of Hindi in the region.

Highlighting the importance of simplifying Hindi to make it more accessible, the Chief Secretary stressed that everyone should be able to speak and understand the language with ease. He also took the opportunity to promote the natural beauty of A&N Islands, encouraging delegates to explore the scenic landscapes and historical sites in and around Sri Vijaya Puram during their stay.

As part of the event, the Chief Secretary and Dr. Anil Agarwal presented awards to the best-performing departments in the use of Hindi. Individual accolades were also given to senior officers who made notable contributions towards promoting Hindi in their respective sectors.

Speaking as the guest of honour, Dr. Anil Agarwal informed the gathering about the A&N Administration’s efforts to enhance the use of Hindi in daily official work. He mentioned that a Nodal Officer for Official Language has been appointed in each department to ensure the proper implementation of Hindi in all administrative functions.

The conference also saw key addresses from Prof. C.C. Tripathi, Director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal; Mr. Santosh Kumar, Executive Director of NHPC Limited; and Mr. Mahipal Singh, Secretary of BBSK.

The conference will continue until October 25, 2024, with participants from across the country engaging in discussions and training sessions aimed at enhancing the use of Hindi in official communications.
