47.5 Kilograms Venison Seized at Diglipur, One Local Resident Nabbed

In a significant development, authorities in Diglipur, North & Middle Andaman District, carried out a successful operation on September 7, 2023, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of venison, from a residence in Sardar Tikrey, Subashgram Ward No.6. The operation was conducted following credible information received from a reliable source.

According to reports, the tip-off led to the deployment of a team from the Diglipur Police Station, including Inspector K. Binoj, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Diglipur, as well as Police Constables Aboobuckar Siddique, Samresh Mistry, Radhesham Hawlader, and Soma Dey. 

Upon arriving at the suspected location, the team observed an individual carrying a heavy bag and transferring its contents to a nearby hen hut from his residence. Swiftly taking action, the police intercepted the individual and conducted a thorough search, revealing a staggering discovery. A total of 45 packets resembling venison were found, weighing a combined total of 47.5 kilograms. The individual responsible for the storage and transportation of the contraband was identified as Mr. Sanjib Halder, aged 41, and a resident of Sardar Tikrey, Subashgram.

Following the arrest and seizure, all requisite legal procedures were adhered to, and Mr. Sanjib Halder and the confiscated items were handed over to Forest Officials for further necessary action. 

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena (DANIPS), Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Diglipur, and was conducted under the overall guidance of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police for the North & Middle Andaman District.

The North & Middle Andaman District Police have emphasised their unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against organised crime. Informers’ identities will be kept confidential, and they may also receive suitable rewards for their assistance in maintaining law and order in the region.
