The residents of Great Nicobar have been facing a lot of problems due to the bad-conditioned buses plying on various routes of the Island. Every other day the buses break down in between the trips and the passengers suffer.
Two buses were recently sent from Port Blair to Campbell Bay, but the newly sent buses were also not good conditioned and started developing various problems as they started plying on the roads of Campbell Bay.
The villagers of the far-flung villages are the worst sufferers as STS Buses are their primary mode of transportation. Political leaders have been demanding good-conditioned buses for Campbell Bay from a long time.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Zilla Parishad Member (Govind Nagar/Campbell Bay) recently met Mr. Vishwendra, Secretary-Cum-Director, Transport and informed him of the problems being faced by the residents of Great Nicobar.
Mr. Vishwendra assured that in a week the staff of STS will visit Great Nicobar with the required spare parts and will repair all five buses at the STS Unit, Campbell Bay for the convenience of the residents.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh has thanked the Secretary-Cum-Director, Transport for his proactive action for the repair of STS Buses at Campbell Bay.
