In a major step towards agricultural modernization in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Department of Agriculture has announced a 50% subsidy — up to a maximum of ₹30,000 per beneficiary — for the purchase of Carbon Fibre Telescopic Harvesters under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) for the year 2025–26.
The initiative aims to encourage farmers to adopt modern, efficient, and safer farming tools suited to the islands’ tropical conditions. The Carbon Fibre Telescopic Harvester is a lightweight, rust-resistant tool that enables farmers to harvest from the ground without climbing trees, significantly reducing the risk of accidents. Its durable carbon fibre build and telescopic design also help save time and labour, ultimately boosting productivity and income.
Farmers owning a minimum of 0.10 hectare of agricultural land are eligible to avail the subsidy. Application forms are available at the nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot or Zonal Office.
For further assistance, farmers may contact the nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot/Zonal Agriculture Office or reach out to the Kisan Call Centre at 03192-243434 or toll-free number 1800-345-1145.
