In a continued effort to safeguard public property and preserve community spaces, the District Administration of South Andaman has intensified its crackdown on illegal encroachments across the region. On May 22, 2025, a coordinated eviction drive was carried out in North Bay village, resulting in the successful removal of encroachments besides newly developed North Bay Road.
The drive, spearheaded by a team of Revenue Department officials, was carried out with crucial support from the South Andaman Police and staff of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD). During the operation, approximately 500 square meters of government revenue land were reclaimed and restored to the official government record (Khaata).
Authorities have emphasized the importance of preserving such infrastructure from unauthorized occupation.
In a stern warning, the District Administration has urged residents to refrain from illegal encroachments, stating that strict legal action will be taken against violators. The administration has also called for greater public cooperation in identifying and reporting encroachments.
To facilitate this, citizens can report illegal constructions or land grabs through the District Control Room at 03192-240127, 238881, or 1070. Information can also be shared via WhatsApp at 9531888844. Officials have assured that all reports will be treated with complete confidentiality to protect the identity of informants.
The District Administration confirmed that such eviction drives will continue in the coming days as part of a broader initiative to ensure the lawful use of government land and its proper utilization for the welfare of the community. (Story Based on PR)
