Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), the flagship health assurance scheme of the Government of India, stands as the world’s largest program of its kind. Launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this scheme offers financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalization care.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive an AB-PMJAY Card, which facilitates cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals across the country, both public and private. This card, a single document, provides the beneficiary’s details and ensures nationwide portability.
As of now, 25,140 families, totaling 72,257 members, have registered under the AB-PMJAY scheme in the Union Territory (UT). These families are entitled to cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Beneficiaries requiring specialized treatment in cardiology, neurology, oncology, and other fields not available within the UT are referred to mainland hospitals. To date, approximately 1,950 beneficiaries have been referred to empanelled mainland hospitals under the scheme.
Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY also features a Central Grievance Redressal Management System (CGRMS), accessible online at https://cgrms.pmjay.gov.in, where beneficiaries can register grievances related to the scheme. For support at the national level, the AB-PMJAY support team is available through the toll-free numbers 14555 and 1800111565.
In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Implementing Support Agency (ISA) of Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY has established an office at House No. MB-43, R.P. Road, Vill Dugnabad, Port Blair. This office, staffed with support executives, addresses queries regarding PMJAY card eligibility, referral formalities, and other scheme-related information. Beneficiaries can visit the office directly or contact the support team at the toll-free number 18003090645.
