The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, renowned for their breathtaking beaches and rich biodiversity, are set to introduce a new Beach Shacks Policy. Drafted by the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism under the A & N Administration, this policy aims to promote responsible tourism and sustainable development while preserving the natural beauty of these pristine shores.

As these Indian islands continue to grow in popularity among travelers and tourists seeking both natural beauty and cultural experiences, the need to strike a harmonious balance between tourism development and environmental preservation becomes increasingly crucial.

The draft Beach Shacks Policy provides comprehensive guidelines for the establishment, operation, and management of beach shacks along the region’s picturesque coastline. Its primary objectives include enhancing tourists’ experiences, preserving the aesthetics of the beaches, promoting responsible tourism practices, and maintaining ecological equilibrium.

To ensure that this policy reflects the interests and concerns of all stakeholders, it has been made available to the public for scrutiny and feedback. Interested parties, including the general public, tourism stakeholders, and various government departments, are encouraged to review the draft policy.

The draft policy is accessible to the public through the official website of the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism at https://www.andamantourism.gov.in. The Directorate welcomes comments, suggestions, and inputs from all interested parties. The submission period for feedback spans 30 days, commencing on August 23, 2023, and concluding on September 23, 2023.
