In a determined move to strengthen their fight against drug-related crimes, the Andaman & Nicobar Police joined forces with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to organise a crucial training-cum-workshop session on the “Seizure and investigation procedure in NDPS cases.” The event, held at the Conference Hall of the Police Headquarters on November 6, 2023, brought together Supervisory and Investigating officers of A&N Police.
Conducted over a three-hour duration, the training was facilitated by Mr. Rakesh Chandra Shukla, Zonal Director of the Kolkata Zone, NCB. The initiative was undertaken as part of capacity building measures to empower law enforcement officers with the essential knowledge and skills required to effectively combat the drug menace in the region.
The primary objective of the workshop was to equip the officers and staff of the A&N Police with a comprehensive understanding of the mandatory and critical provisions of “Seizure and investigation procedure in NDPS cases.” Mr. Rakesh Chandra Shukla, Zonal Director, NCB, Kolkata, delivered insightful lectures covering various topics, including the obligatory provisions of the NDPS Act, and elaborated on the seizure and investigation procedures applied in NDPS cases.
The event witnessed active participation from more than 60 officers hailing from various Police Stations and Units within the A&N Police, ranging from Head Constables to Deputy Superintendents of Police. Both offline and online modes of participation were made available, underscoring the commitment of A&N Police to extend anti-drug efforts effectively throughout the region.
