Andaman and Nicobar Police have issued a public advisory, warning citizens about the increasing number of cyber fraud cases exploiting the growing interest in work-from-home (WFH) opportunities. Cyber fraudsters are sending fake job offers through WhatsApp messages, aiming to lure unsuspecting users into their trap.

These fraudulent messages often contain malicious phishing links designed to steal personal information or commit financial fraud. The police urge the public to exercise caution and follow essential safety measures to protect themselves from such scams.

Andaman and Nicobar Police recommend the following precautions:

– Ignore messages from unknown numbers: Do not engage with or respond to suspicious messages, especially if they come from unrecognised sources.

– Avoid clicking on unfamiliar links: Refrain from clicking on links received through messages on any online platform unless you are certain of their legitimacy.

– Verify job offers through official channels: Always visit the authorised websites of companies or organisations to seek valid job-related information.

– Install updated antivirus software: Ensure your digital devices are equipped with the latest antivirus software for security and protection.

– Block and report suspicious numbers: If you receive a fake job offer, block the number immediately and report it to the authorities.

– Stay informed about cyber frauds: Keep yourself updated on the latest cyber scams and fraud tactics.

– Enable two-factor authentication: Use two-factor authentication and fingerprint options provided by various platforms to enhance your online security.

– Practice safe online habits: Always adhere to safe online practices to minimise the risk of falling victim to cybercrimes.
