The skies above the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are set to witness a significant transformation as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has entered into a landmark Operation and Maintenance Agreement with the Union Territory Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The agreement, signed today by Mr. Vishwendra, Secretary of Civil Aviation for the A&N Administration, and Mr. N V Subbarayudu, Executive Director-II (JVC/PP) of AAI, will see the AAI take over the operation and maintenance of Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay airports for an initial term of five years. This agreement includes the option to extend the partnership for an additional five years under mutually agreed terms and conditions. Notably, a similar agreement for Shibpur Airport was already signed on September 1, 2023.
Port Blair Airport Director, Mr. Devender Yadav, hailed the agreement as a new chapter in civil aviation excellence. “This momentous partnership will usher in the operationalization of Car Nicobar Airport and Campbell Bay Airport, marking a new era of air connectivity and development for the region,” he stated.
The partnership has paved the way for flight service between Port Blair and remote Islands of Car Nicobar and Great Nicobar under Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN.
All the people are traveling with great difficulty and need to act quickly.
