AATO and India Tourism Celebrate National Tourism Day with Responsible Tourism Initiatives

Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), in collaboration with India Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, celebrated National Tourism Day with a series of impactful events focused on promoting responsible tourism and environmental conservation.  

The day began with an energetic beach cleaning drive at Munda Pahad Beach, Chidiyatapu, where AATO members worked together to remove plastic waste and debris. The initiative highlighted AATO’s dedication to preserving the pristine beauty of the Andaman Islands.  

Following the cleanup, a tree plantation drive was held at Chidiyatapu, further emphasizing the importance of sustainability. The events culminated in a “Travel for Life” sustainable tourism pledge ceremony at the Chidiyatapu Biological Park, where participants committed to fostering environmentally conscious tourism practices.  

Mr. M. Vinod, President of AATO, administered the pledge and spoke about the significance of sustainable tourism. “National Tourism Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the importance of responsible tourism in preserving our cultural and natural heritage. The collective efforts we witnessed today – from beach cleaning to tree planting – demonstrate our community’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the beauty and culture of the Andaman Islands,” he said.  

Mr. M. Vinod extended his heartfelt gratitude to India Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism, officials from the Chidiyatapu Biological Park, and all participants who contributed to the success of this meaningful celebration.  

The event served as a powerful reminder of the role the tourism community can play in creating a sustainable future for the Andaman Islands.
