AATO and India Tourism Organize Tourism Stakeholders Meet in Sri Vijaya Puram

The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), in collaboration with India Tourism, Sri Vijayapuram (Ministry of Tourism, Government of India), successfully hosted a Tourism Stakeholders Meet at Hotel Lemon Tree on 26th March 2025.

The event was graced by Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Secretary, IP&T, who attended as the Chief Guest. In her address, she underscored the importance of collective efforts by all stakeholders in positioning the Andaman Islands as a premier tourist destination.

Mr. N. Velmurugan, Assistant Director, India Tourism (Ministry of Tourism, GOI), presented an overview of various tourism schemes initiated by the Ministry of Tourism. He encouraged stakeholders to capitalize on these schemes to improve infrastructure and undertake promotion activities.

Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Scientist-E and Officer-in-Charge, Zoological Survey of India (A&N Islands), highlighted the need for sustainable tourism practices to preserve the fragile ecosystem of the Andaman Islands. He stressed the importance of eco-friendly initiatives to balance tourism growth with environmental conservation.

Dr. K. Chandrasekaran, President of the Andaman Nicobar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ANCCI), briefed the gathering about upcoming tourism projects in the islands. He emphasized that these projects aim to diversify tourism offerings and enrich visitor experiences.

The event witnessed the active participation of prominent industry leaders, including Mr. Mohd Jadwet and Mr. Madan Lall, General Secretary, ANCCI, who extended their support for collaborative initiatives to strengthen the tourism sector.

Mr. M. Vinod, President of AATO, welcomed the dignitaries and stakeholders and expressed gratitude to India Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism for their continued support in promoting Andaman tourism. He emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders to ensure the sustainable growth of the tourism sector.

The meet concluded with an engaging interactive session, followed by a networking dinner at Hotel Lemon Tree, providing a platform for stakeholders to discuss opportunities for future collaboration.
