The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) has strongly condemned the recent terror attack on tourists in Kashmir, calling it a cowardly act aimed at destabilising tourism and spreading fear among visitors.
In a statement issued on behalf of the entire tourism industry, AATO expressed deep anguish over the targeting of tourists, describing the incident as a direct assault on peace and national unity.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured. The perpetrators of this heinous act must not succeed in their nefarious designs,” said Mr. M. Vinod, President of AATO.
Highlighting the broader implications of the attack, Mr. Vinod emphasized that tourism has always served as a bridge for peace, cultural exchange, and national integration. βAn attack on tourists is not just an attack on individuals β it is an attack on the spirit of hospitality and the very image of our nation,β he said.
He further noted that such incidents could severely damage both domestic and international tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, affecting the livelihoods of thousands who depend directly or indirectly on the sector.
AATO has urged the government and security agencies to take swift and stringent action against those responsible for the attack and to bolster security measures to ensure the safety of tourists in the region.
