The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) successfully hosted the 3rd edition of the Andaman Tourism Road Show on Saturday at Hotel Lemon Tree, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event aimed to promote tourism in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and foster engagement between regional tourism stakeholders and visiting delegates from across India and abroad.
The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), A&N Administration, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In her address, she commended AATO’s efforts in advancing responsible and sustainable tourism in the islands. She also interacted with delegates and encouraged continued collaboration between the administration and industry players.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. N. Vel Murugan, Assistant Director, India Tourism (Ministry of Tourism, Government of India); Mr. Vinayak Chamadiya, Director (Tourism); Mr. Chandrasekhar, President of ANCCI; Mr. Madan Lall, General Secretary of ANCCI; and Mr. Mohd. Jadwet, Chapter Chairman of IATO and Director of Makruzz.
Speaking at the gathering, Mr. Mohd. Jadwet encouraged delegates to provide candid feedback on their experiences in the islands, emphasising the value of both positive insights and constructive criticism in enhancing visitor satisfaction and shaping better policies.
Over 150 AATO members and 30 invited agents from across the country and abroad took part in the road show. Among the international attendees were delegates from South Korea, currently on a familiarisation (FAM) tour across the islands to explore potential travel collaborations.
In his welcome address, AATO President Mr. M. Vinod highlighted the significance of such road shows in bridging the gap between the islands and the wider travel trade network, positioning the Andamans as a high-value tourism destination.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. K. Hamza, General Secretary of AATO, who acknowledged the contributions of all partners, officials, and participants. The evening wrapped up with a cultural performance and networking dinner, offering attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas and explore future partnerships.
