In a display of swift and effective policing, the Aberdeen Police successfully solved an attempt to murder case within hours of the incident and arrested the accused.
The incident occurred near the Aberdeen Bazaar bus stand, where a private bus driver was grievously attacked with an iron sword, reportedly due to a personal dispute.
Acting on a complaint received on July 3, 2025, Police Station Aberdeen promptly registered an FIR and launched an investigation under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Samiran Mridha. A dedicated team comprising Head Constable Sunil and Police Constables Jairaj, Jagdish Babu, and S.S. Yadav was formed to trace the perpetrator.
The crime scene was examined by a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, which collected and seized critical evidence. Through sustained and coordinated efforts, the police team successfully identified and apprehended the accused, identified as R. Suriya Kiran Kumar, a resident of Pathargudda. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO, PS Aberdeen, with guidance from Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, SDPO South Andaman, and overall supervision of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
