In a significant crackdown on illegal alcohol sales, the Aberdeen Police seized a large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at over Rs. 4 lakhs from a local bar and restaurant. The operation took place at Hotel AR Honey Hub located in Gandhi Market and led to the arrest of the restaurant’s manager for selling alcohol without a valid license.
Acting on credible information, a team led by Inspector Vishal Ram, Station House Officer of PS Aberdeen, conducted the raid. The team included Inspector Mithun Kirtoniya, Head Constable Nakul Halder, and Police Constables K. Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh Yadav, P. Mohd. Rafique, Jayraj, and HG(R) Jai Prakash, who also served as the police photo/videographer. During the raid, the team discovered that the establishment was selling IMFL bottles without adhering to regulatory requirements, resulting in the seizure of the illicit stock.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the manager, Kannappan Arumugam, 50, a resident of Aberdeen Bazaar, under the relevant sections of the A&N Excise Regulation 1876. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the illegal operations.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Vikas, IPS, Sub Divisional Police Officer of South Andaman, and the overall supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
South Andaman District Police have called on citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illegal alcohol sales or other illicit practices by contacting 112, 03192-232100, 03192-233077, or 03192-232400. They have assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential, emphasizing the crucial role of community cooperation in maintaining law and order.
