The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Andaman & Nicobar Islands unit, celebrated National Youth Day with enthusiasm and reverence on January 12, 2026, at the Swami Vivekananda statue located within the premises of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM). The programme was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, revered as a great thinker, philosopher, and an enduring youth icon of India.
The observance began with floral tributes paid to Swami Vivekananda, followed by addresses highlighting his life, teachings, and immense contribution to nation-building. Speakers from ABVP spoke at length on Swami Vivekananda’s vision of empowering the youth through education, character building, self-confidence, discipline, and dedicated service to society. They underlined the relevance of his ideals in contemporary times and called upon the youth to draw inspiration from his teachings to build a strong, self-reliant, and developed India.
During the programme, speakers also emphasized the crucial role of youth in social reform, cultural awareness, and strengthening national unity. Students were encouraged to work selflessly for the welfare of society and to contribute positively to the nation’s progress by following the path shown by Swami Vivekananda.
Karyakartas of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram were also present on the occasion and actively participated in the programme. Their participation highlighted the spirit of social harmony, inclusiveness, and commitment to serving marginalized communities. The gathering collectively reflected on social responsibility and the role of youth in uplifting all sections of society.
The programme saw the participation of ABVP office bearers, karyakartas, students, and well-wishers. It concluded with a message of unity, patriotism, and dedication to the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, leaving the participants inspired and motivated to serve the nation with commitment and integrity.
