The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) celebrated the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar with great enthusiasm at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Sri Vijaya Puram. The event witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries and active participation from around 300 students.
The program began with a warm welcome by Dr. Santosh Kumar Jha, Vice President of Dakshin Bengal Prant, ABVP, who greeted the guests and attendees. The occasion was graced by Mr. Govind Chandra Nayak, National Joint Organizing Secretary of ABVP, who delivered the keynote address and served as the Guest of Honour.
In his speech, Mr. Govind Chandra Nayak highlighted the remarkable life and contributions of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. He praised her exceptional leadership, dedication to public welfare, and commitment to social and cultural development, portraying her as a timeless inspiration for women across generations.
Chief Guest Dr. R.V.R. Murthy also shared insights on the significance of the day, reflecting on Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar’s enduring impact on Indian society. Dr. Ratan Mazumdar, Associate Professor of Geography, elaborated on her life and deeds, offering a historical perspective on her legacy.
The event was further enriched by the presence of several notable dignitaries, including Dr. Kandimuthu, Vibhag Pramukh, ABVP, ANI; Mr. Tejinder Singh, President of ABVP, Sri Vijaya Puram; and Ms.. Esther Samuel, Lecturer in the Department of Political Science.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Satyajit Halder, Secretary of ABVP, who expressed gratitude to the guests, organizers, and participants for their contributions in making the event a success.
The entire event was smoothly moderated by Sushri Smriti Mishra and Mr. Kunal Bain. The celebration served as a fitting tribute to Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar’s courage, wisdom, and visionary leadership, inspiring the younger generation to follow in her footsteps and uphold her values.
