In a bid to address the pressing concern of a shortage of faculty members in Andaman Law College, Mr. Siddhant Rai Sharma, Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Port Blair, has taken proactive steps by writing a letter to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
The issue raised by Mr. Sharma pertains to the severe lack of Asst. Professors, which has been adversely impacting the quality of education and regular lectures at the Andaman Law College. In his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Sharma emphasised that the current shortage of faculty members has led to a violation of Rule 10 under PART IV of the Bar Council of India Rules, 1975, as the required number of lectures are not being conducted.
Highlighting the repercussions of this shortage, Mr. Sharma pointed out that students of the college are grappling with significant issues due to the non-availability of adequate faculty. The absence of Asst. Professors across various subjects is causing concerns about the ability of students to meet academic requirements, potentially creating undue pressure in the future as they attempt to cover the syllabus in a condensed timeframe.
Furthermore, Mr. Sharma drew the Chief Secretary’s attention to the delay in admissions for the 1st Year of the College. He earnestly requested that the counselling session for prospective students be conducted at the earliest possible opportunity.
