ABVP Organises Protest for Establishment of Central University in A & N Islands

Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Andaman and Nicobar Islands chapter organised a dharna on 8th of September near Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park, Aberdeen Bazaar, Port Blair to press for their demand of establishing a Central University in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

ABVP is opposing the decision of establishing a Deemed University in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The dharna saw the participation of the karyakartas of ABVP and they raised slogans and displayed banners against the establishment of a Deemed University in the Islands.

The karyakartas of ABVP demanded that a Central University in the Islands. Nicobar Times spoke to Mr. Siddhant Rai Sharma, Media Convener of ABVP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands who informed us that the purpose of the dharna is to press for the establishment of a Central University in the Islands as well as to raise awareness among the students regarding various decisions taken by Andaman and Nicobar Administration. He further informed that ABVP has been organising such events regularly. 

Mr. Siddhant also informed us that during the recent visit of the President of India to Andaman and Nicobar Islands the ABVP representative submitted a memorandum in this regard to the President with the demand of establishing a Central University in the Islands.

He added that ABVP in the past had also organised a rally as well as a seminar to raise awareness about their demand for a Central University.

He also informed that ABVP will start a Twitter trend campaign in the Islands soon to press for their demands.
