The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Sri Vijaya Puram Unit organized a study circle at Ramakrishna Mission on November 10, 2024, bringing together college students and ABVP members from the region. This gathering, titled “Gyanam,” featured insightful discussions aimed at fostering education rooted in values, inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

The event opened with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Chief Guest Swami Om Karatmanandan Maharaj, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance through knowledge. ABVP President Mr. Tejinder Singh welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the power of collaborative learning and the role of students as future leaders in building a knowledgeable and responsible society.

Swami Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, then guided a meditation session, encouraging attendees to cultivate mindfulness and internal focus. This collective reflection set the stage for a discourse on Swami Vivekananda’s educational ideals, which prioritize character building, self-confidence, and moral integrity.

Swami Maharaj shared that education should not only empower individuals but also inspire them to contribute positively to society. He passionately advocated for a learning approach centred on holistic personal growth rather than mere academic success.

The study circle concluded with a vote of thanks from ABVP Secretary Mr. Satyajit Halder, who expressed gratitude to the revered guests and coordinators, including Dr. Kandimuthu and ABVP Joint Secretary Mr. Kunal Bain, for their roles in making the event meaningful. Halder reaffirmed ABVP’s commitment to promoting educational dialogues that inspire and motivate young minds across the region.
