Dr. Nitin Shakya, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay recently formed two committees one for curbing Drug Abuse and another for Beautification & Tourism Development in Great Nicobar. The committee comprises of Assistant Commissioner as Chairman and the members are Pramukh (Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay), Zilla Parishad Members (under Campbell Bay Tehsil), Deputy Superintendent of Police, Divisional Forest Officer, other Senior Govt. Officials, Pradhan (All Panchayats under Great Nicobar Jurisdiction) & Chairman (Tribal Council, GNI & LNI). Two journalists have also been included in the committee formed to curb Drug Abuse.
The first meetings of both the committees were held today in the Chamber of AC, Campbell Bay.
In the meeting of the Beautification and Tourism Development Committee discussions were held regarding the development of tourism at Gandhi Nagar and from INS Baaz Gate to Magar Nallah. The committee members also discussed and formed a plan to curb the cattle menace on Campbell Bay roads.
In the meeting for curbing Drug Abuse, discussions were held regarding the ways to stop the menace of Illicit liquor. Discussions were also held to encourage the youth to stay away from drugs/alcohol and to conduct campaigns for de-addiction.Â
