In a recent inspection, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) of N & M Andaman District, Mr. Ashish Joon examined the NH-4 roadway segment from Panighat to Basantipur. Accompanied by the General Manager of NHIDCL, other NHIDCL officials, and a Revenue team comprising the Tehsildar, RI, and Patwari of Mayabunder Sub Division, Mr. Joon assessed the state of the roadway and directed immediate repairs.
The inspection focused on several damaged stretches of the road. Mr. Joon emphasized the need for urgent maintenance and repair work, particularly between the Basantipur Forest Section and Panighat. He instructed NHIDCL officials to take swift action to restore the motorability of this stretch and to deploy an additional contractor to expedite the repairs.
Further directives were issued to NHIDCL officials to continue filling potholes at Swadesh Nagar and Tugapur. In the Nimbudera region, where the road conditions are particularly poor, Mr. Joon called for major repairs to ensure the road is motorable. He stressed that efforts should be undertaken on a war footing to address these issues promptly.
This inspection underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring safe and reliable transportation for the residents of North and Middle Andaman.
