The Hon’ble Lt. Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands had earlier announced the re-constitution of the “Regional Records Survey Committee,” which will now include sub-committees in each of the three districts: South Andaman, Middle & North Andaman, and Nicobar District. The sub-committees will be led by the respective District Deputy Commissioners, and their primary mandate is to survey and list various records related to the history of the islands. These include documents, photographs, manuscripts, and other materials.
The public and private institutions holding such records are encouraged to contact the A&N Archives either in person or by phone at 230695. They can also reach out to the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts. This initiative aims to preserve these valuable records for future reference and benefit, particularly for research scholars, students, and the general public.
The A&N Administration will bear the costs associated with photocopying and other documentation needs. In recognition of their contribution, all individuals or institutions that donate or share their records with the A&N Archives will receive due acknowledgment from the “Regional Records Survey Committee.”
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to preserve the rich history of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for future generations.
