Directorate of Fisheries, Andaman and Nicobar Administration has issued an advisory to the fishermen of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, asking them not to venture into Southeast Bay of Bengal and South Andaman Sea from 21st May 2021 until further advisories. They have also advised the fishermen who are already out in the Deep Sea to return to the coast by 23rd of May 2021.
The advisory has been issued after communication was received from Indian Meteorological Department, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India about likely formation of a low pressure area over North and Middle Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal around 22nd May 2021 and its intensification into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 72 hours.
