A one-day Advocacy Programme 2024-25 for School Heads, Health Ambassadors, and Health Messengers under the Ayushman Bharat School Health & Wellness Programme (AB-SHWP) was organized on March 20 at the DBRAIT Auditorium. The event was conducted by the PEP Cell of the Science Wing, Directorate of Education, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration.
The programme witnessed the participation of 700 Health Messengers, 57 School Heads, and 57 Health Ambassadors from South Andaman and Wimberlygunj Zone in offline mode, while participants from North & Middle Andaman and Nicobar Districts joined virtually.
Mr. Vikram Singh, Project Director (PEP/AEP) and Director of Education, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of utilizing resources effectively by promoting the concept of ‘Best out of Waste’. He encouraged students to develop a deeper connection with nature and forests while also stressing the need to cultivate reading habits and utilize the School, Zonal, and Mobile Libraries.
Earlier, Mr. Ram Pravesh, Project Coordinator (PEP/AEP) and Deputy Director of Education (Science), welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Adolescence Education in schools across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The event featured presentations by 11 Resource Persons from various departments and NGOs on modules developed by NCERT under the School Health and Wellness Programme.
Padma Shri Awardee and Swachch Bharat Abhiyan Ambassador, Mr. Naresh Chander Lal, spoke on the theme ‘Values and Responsible Citizenship’, inspiring the attendees to embrace civic responsibility.
The chief guest and other dignitaries presented trophies to two Best Performing Schools from each CRC under the School Health & Wellness Programme.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Project Officer (PEP/AEP) and Science Consultant. (Story Based on PR)
