The Agriculture Department’s sale outlet ‘Vatika’, located beside Sagarika Emporium at Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, has become a popular stop for tourists and locals alike. The outlet offers a wide range of agricultural products, including virgin coconut oil, spices, and locally produced seasonal squashes, jams, and pickles.
The primary objective of ‘Vatika’ is to serve as a one-stop shop for the sale of departmental farm produce, value-added products, and agricultural produce from local farmers. The initiative aims to provide farmers in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with a direct marketing platform, ensuring ease of access to consumers.
Farmers interested in selling their produce through ‘Vatika’ can register themselves without paying any registration fees. The proceeds from sales are directly credited to the farmers’ bank accounts, making the process simple and transparent.
