The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) in Campbell Bay has launched a targeted campaign to address the growing issue of stray cattle and dog populations in the area. This initiative is part of the ongoing Animal Welfare Fortnight, a dedicated period for promoting animal welfare, raising awareness about animal rights, and implementing measures to ensure their well-being.
As part of the campaign, the department conducted a mass castration drive in Campbell Bay, successfully castrating five bulls and four dogs. The initiative aims to control the stray animal population humanely while encouraging responsible animal care practices among residents.
Animal Welfare Fortnight, observed annually, focuses on creating sustainable solutions for animal welfare challenges. The efforts by the AH&VS department in Campbell Bay highlight a commitment to fostering a safer and more compassionate environment for both animals and the local community.
