Ajoy Bairagi Bats for Better Banking Services, Submarine Optical Fiber Connectivity and Better Health Services for Residents of Shaheed Dweep

Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands have written letters to various authorities of Andaman and Nicobar Administration explaining the problems being faced by the Islanders of Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island). 

Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has written letter to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman requesting him for improvement of ATM facilities at Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island|). He has explained to the Deputy Commissioner that residents of Shaheed Dweep and the Govt. Servants posted there are facing a lot of issues because of non-availability of functional ATMs in the Island. He has further explained that even if the ATMs are repaired they go defunct in some days and this has been a long pending demand of the residents of Shaheed Dweep. 

He has further explained that the residents of Neil island face a lot of issues in getting cash for their daily needs. Further Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has also raised the demand of the Islanders of Neil Island for opening of a branch of State Bank of India in Neil Island. 

He requested the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate steps for repair of the ATMs of Syndicate Bank and Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank located at Shaheed Dweep.

Shri. Ajoy Bairagi also wrote a letter to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Chief General Manager of BSNL, Andaman and Nicobar Islands requesting them to extend the Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Connectivity to Shaheed Dweep. 

In his letter Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has explained to the dignitaries that Neil Island is a major tourist destination of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and every year lakhs of tourist visit Neil Island and there are several resorts and other businesses mushrooming in Neil Island but the Island has not been connected with Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Connectivity for fast internet access.

He also explained that the youth and the general public of Neil Island are aggrieved by the decision. He further mentioned that excluding a major tourist destination from Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Connectivity doesn’t seem to be a wise decision. 

He requested the authorities to initiate the process of connecting Shaheed Dweep with Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Connectivity and as a temporary measure also provide 4G Services in Neil Island through some other mode until the connectivity can be established through SMC.

Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has also written to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Secretary (Health), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Director (Health), Andaman and Nicobar Administration and the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) requesting them to improve the health facilities at Shaheed Dweep. Shri. Ajoy Bairagi in his letter has mentioned that the residents of Neil Island have informed him that currently there is only one doctor posted at PHC Neil Island and he is over burdened with work. He also mentioned that earlier three doctors were posted at Neil Island.

He further mentioned that PHC Shaheed Dweep is currently lacking Ultra Sound Machine which is important for the treatment of pregnant women. Further he has raised the demand of the Islanders of Neil Island for posting of a lady doctor.

He requested the authorities to post two more doctors to PHC Shaheed Dweep and further among the two doctors one lady doctor to be posted. He also requested for deploying an Ultra Sound Machine at Neil Island for the convenience of the Pregnant Women.
