Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has wished the Islanders on the occasion of Deepawali. Deepawali the festival of lights Is celebrated all over India and the world with much fanfare. Different regions of India have different reasons for celebrating Diwali but all have one thing in common the victory of good over the evil. This year Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the rest of the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic. This year while celebrating the festival one must be very careful and follow all COVID-19 protocols properly. The two golden rules should always be followed, that is to wear masks at all times in public and to maintain social distancing ‘2 gaj ki doori’.
During Diwali many people like to burst firecrackers and have fun but this year the pollution from the firecrackers can make situation worse for the people with co-modalities , so I urge Islanders to refrain from excessive use of firecrackers during their celebrations and to follow all the rules as specified by the Govt. The safety protocols should also be followed.
Let this Diwali bring out the best in us and take us from the darkness of this pandemic towards the light of a healthier world.
