Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman requesting them for deployment of more ships and boats in the inter-island sector especially for Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Rangat.
Shri. Ajoy Bairgi in his letter has mentioned that he has been receiving calls continuously from PRI Members, Students, traders, patients, farmers and general public from various Islands especially from Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Rangat and adjoining areas explaining the problems that they are facing since the past few months because of the restricted movement of boats and ships.
Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has further thanked the authorities that upon his repeated requests the administration has resumed shipping services for some Islands in a limited manner. He also explained to the authorities that the people residing in the Islands are stranded for several months and their entire business is stalled due to the restricted movement of ships.
He further mentioned that large number of farmers from these Islands have suffered huge losses and recently the PRI Members, students protested against the restricted movement of ships by standing at the Jetty.
He further reminded the authorities that the Ministry of Home Affairs has time and again clarified that inter-state and intra-state movement of public shall not be restricted and all necessary steps should be taken to improve the economic activities in the states/UT.
Shri. Ajoy Bairagi requested the authorities to deploy and sail more ships in the inter-island sector especially for Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Rangat and adjoining areas at the earliest.
