Mr. Amit Shah, Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs & Union Minister of Co-operation today inaugurated the newly constructed bridge connecting Gandhi Ghat & Uttara in North and Middle Andaman virtually during a programme organised at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island.

The bridge has been named Azad Hind Fauj Setu after the Azad Hind Fauj led by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose which had the vision of freeing India from British Rule.

Mr. Amit Shah during the programme for the inauguration of the bridge and other projects spoke at length about the contributions of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and other freedom fighters in our freedom movement.

Azad Hind Fauj Bridge is 1.45 Km long and it connects Gandhi Ghat to Uttara. One more bridge is under construction which connects Middle Strait to Baratang Island.

Earlier to travel between South Andaman and the far end of North and Middle Andaman District one had to cross two creeks over Vehicle Ferry. The process was time-consuming and the travellers had to face a lot of problems. The construction of two bridges over the creeks was sanctioned. One out of the two bridges was inaugurated today by Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Co-operation, Mr. Amit Shah.

The inauguration of the bridge will ease the travel experience of the travellers and will also save valuable time. Cargo transportation between South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman will also ease.

Azad Hind Fauj Setu will prove to be a game-changer for the residents of North and Middle Andaman District and after the completion of construction of the other bridge connecting Middle Strait and Baratang, the lives of the residents will completely transform.

Azad Hind Fauj Setu lies on National Highway No. 4 and was constructed by NHIDCL.
