The Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, successfully concluded a 15-day short-term skill development training program on ‘Handicrafts (Coconut Shell, Wooden, and Cane & Bamboo Products)’ at Burmanallah Gram Panchayat, held from October 24 to November 7, 2025.
The valedictory function was graced by Mr. R. Parmasivam, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Burmanallah, who lauded the Industries Department for organizing practical training programs tailored to local resources and market demand. He urged the trainees to leverage their newly acquired skills to explore self-employment opportunities, thereby enhancing livelihoods and contributing to sustainable community development.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. R. Janak Rao, Industries Promotion Officer, Directorate of Industries, highlighted various departmental schemes and initiatives designed to support such training programs, promote MSME development, and facilitate local employment generation.
The program saw the participation of 30 trainees, who gained hands-on experience and technical knowledge in handicraft making. The initiative aims to foster self-employment among local residents while strengthening the regional economy through skill-based empowerment.
