The Andaman & Nicobar Administration’s first Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance was formally flagged off on 17th November 2025, by the Secretary (Health), Ms. Richa, from the National Memorial Cellular Jail, marking a significant step forward in enhancing critical care transport services across the Islands.

The ambulance has been allotted to G.B. Pant Hospital and is equipped to facilitate the safe and efficient transfer of critically ill patients. Officials noted that it will be primarily used to transport seriously ill patients to the airport for urgent medical evacuation to mainland hospitals.

The introduction of the ALS ambulance is expected to substantially improve emergency response capabilities in the Islands by reducing response time and ensuring uninterrupted critical care during transit.

The Health Department expressed gratitude to the A&N Administration for its continued focus on healthcare infrastructure and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable and timely emergency medical support to the community. (Story Based on PR)
