The Department of Agriculture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, has initiated an assessment exercise to evaluate the availability of spices for procurement under the Dweep Sugandh brand.

The initiative aims to identify farmers and Self Help Groups (SHGs) with produce ready for supply, focusing on high-quality spices such as True Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg, Mace, Black Pepper, White Pepper, as well as GI-tagged products.

Farmers and SHGs willing to participate are requested to contact the Kisan Call Centre at 03192 243434 or 1800 345 1145, providing details on spice type, expected quantity, and the period of availability. The deadline for submissions is 30 October 2025.

Officials clarified that this exercise is solely for supply assessment. A structured procurement plan will be formulated subsequently based on the responses from farmers and SHGs.

Conducted under the Spice Pravah mission, the assessment aims to strengthen the Islands’ spice economy by gauging the availability of quality produce and fostering farmer participation in market-linked initiatives.
