In a significant development, the Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Administration has successfully addressed critical issues faced by the Inland Vessel (IV) operators.

Following a review by the Chief Secretary on October 14, 2024, the Port Management Board (PMB) was tasked with prioritizing and resolving two key problems: the revalidation of Certificates of Competency (CoC) and the completion of surveys for inland vessels.

To expedite the revalidation process, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Port Administrator. This committee worked diligently, resulting in the revalidation of 170 CoCs in compliance with the A&N Inland Vessel Rules, 2016.

Concurrently, the PMB initiated efforts to complete mandatory surveys and issue Form 12, the Certificate of Survey. A total of 321 vessels required survey formalities, all of which have now been successfully completed.

The timely resolution of these issues is attributed to the persistent guidance of the Secretary (Shipping) and the dedicated efforts of the PMB and Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) officials.

The A&N Administration remains committed to supporting the IV operators and fostering the growth of the tourism sector in the region.
