The 10th edition of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be observed in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on June 21, 2024, in alignment with worldwide celebrations. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ underscores the importance of yoga in fostering both individual well-being and societal harmony.
In a letter addressed to all Gram Pradhans, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a people-led movement to promote holistic health by increasing awareness about Yoga and Millet.
The Union Territory Administration has designated 46 prominent locations across all three districts for mass yoga demonstrations on June 21. The main event will take place at the Government Girls School Auditorium from 6 to 8 am.
The IDY observance will feature a harmonious mass yoga demonstration following a specially designed 45-minute protocol known as the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). The District Administration and District Health Society in all three districts will organise these demonstrations at various locations.
Additionally, mass yoga sessions will be held at all health institutions and by various Central Government departments, organisations, and NGOs across the Union Territory.
All government servants and members of the public are encouraged to participate in the yoga sessions at their nearest venue starting at 6 am on June 21.
