A&N Police Officers Honoured with Prestigious Awards on 77th Independence Day

The Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Police force stands adorned with pride as four of its officers have been recognised with esteemed awards, the ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service’ and the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service,’ in recognition of their distinguished and dedicated service. Additionally, one officer has been distinguished with the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Police Investigation-2023.’ These accolades were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of the 77th Independence Day in 2023.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, an IPS Officer of the 2008 Batch, currently holding the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Intl.), has been acknowledged for his innovative contributions and comprehensive experience that have brought about significant reforms within the A&N Police. Having served in various capacities within the Delhi Police, his hard work and dedication towards his duties have earned him the esteemed ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.’

Mr. Swapan Kr. Paul, SI

Sub-Inspector Swapan Kumar Paul, who began his journey with the A&N Police as a Police Constable (Exe.) in 1989, has climbed the ranks through sheer determination and diligence. Presently heading the A&N Police Brass Band, he has exhibited commendable performance in his role. His consistent dedication throughout his service career has led to his recognition with the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service.’

Mr. S. Viswanand, SI

Mr. S. Viswanand’s journey within the A&N Police commenced in 1994 as a Constable, and he achieved the rank of Sub-Inspector on June 11, 2012. His proficient investigations of various challenging cases, along with his meticulous approach to handling case properties and documentation, have earned him the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service.’ Presently, he serves as the In-charge of Establishment at PHQ, performing his duties with the highest degree of professionalism and dedication.

Mr. G. Ravi, Head Constable/770

Mr. G. Ravi, who joined the A&N Police as a Police Constable in 1992 and rose to the rank of Head Constable on January 1, 2023, has been recognized for his unwavering commitment and sincerity in carrying out his duties. Having served across various units of the Andaman & Nicobar Police, he has been honored with the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service.’

Ms. Silpi Singha, Sub-Inspector

Sub Inspector Silpi Singha, who joined the A&N Police on August 15, 2014, has been lauded for her consistent excellence and unwavering dedication towards her duties. Her impeccable integrity and exemplary investigative skills were evident in her handling of a sensitive case registered under the POCSO Act. For her exceptional work, she has been awarded the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year-2023.’

Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police for A&N Islands, along with all ranks of the A&N Police, congratulated the awardees for their remarkable achievements. They commended their dedication and hard work, which has brought honour to the A&N Police force. The awardees were wished success in their future endeavours, with their achievements serving as an inspiration to the entire police fraternity.
