Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Police is proud to announce that all jurisdictional police stations in the A&N Islands have successfully obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification, with the exception of Katchal Police Station, which lacks a permanent building. This prestigious certification highlights the commitment of the A&N Police to deliver high-quality policing services while maintaining international standards in management and operations.
Under the direction of Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, the North & Middle Andaman District, led by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, initiated the certification process. Police Stations Rangat and Diglipur achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification in November 2023, followed by the remaining five police stations in the district in April-May 2024.
Simultaneously, the Nicobar Police District, under the supervision of Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, also reached this milestone. All five police stations, including Police Station Campbell Bay, the southernmost police station in the country, earned ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Going a step further, Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, South Andaman District, along with its nine police stations, successfully certified the SDPO and SP offices in May and June 2024.
The certification process involved rigorous audits and evaluations by independent experts, ensuring that all aspects of police station and office operations met the stringent ISO standards. Key improvements and initiatives that led to the certification include:
– Establishment of comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations, ensure consistency, and enhance response times across all police stations.
– Instituting regular training programs to keep the police force updated on the latest practices in law enforcement and citizen service.
– Prioritizing initiatives to foster better communication and cooperation within the community to ensure a more responsive and approachable police service.
– Upgrading technological infrastructure to improve data management, case tracking, and overall efficiency in operations.
– Establishing robust feedback mechanisms to continuously monitor and improve the quality of services provided to the public.
The certification, awarded by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), demonstrates the A&N Police’s dedication to enhancing service efficiency, accountability, and public satisfaction. It stands as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the police personnel and signifies their commitment to upholding the highest standards of service and ensuring the safety and security of the islanders.
Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, lauded the relentless efforts and dedication of all officers and personnel who made this achievement possible. He assured that all fire stations and other units will also achieve this feat shortly, bringing uniform standardization and best practices across the police force.
The ISO certification marks a significant milestone for the A&N Police, reflecting its commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement. The A&N Police remains dedicated to maintaining these standards and further enhancing its service to the community.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police extends its gratitude to all stakeholders, including community members, for their unwavering support and cooperation. This achievement marks a new chapter in its journey towards excellence in law enforcement and public service.
