The Andaman and Nicobar Police has signed an upgraded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI) to provide enhanced banking services and welfare benefits to its personnel under a revised Police Salary Package (PSP).

Under the earlier MoU signed in January 2023, salary accounts of A&N Police personnel were governed by basic banking privileges. With the signing of the revised and upgraded MoU, the A&N Police has secured a range of additional benefits and financial safeguards for its personnel and their families.

As per the upgraded package, police personnel will be covered under a comprehensive Personal Accidental Insurance scheme, which includes coverage of up to Rs. 110 lakh, Permanent Total Disability cover of Rs. 100 lakh and Permanent Partial Disability cover of up to Rs. 80 lakh. The package also includes the SBI Rishtey Family Savings Account, extending banking benefits to up to four family members.

In addition, the revised PSP offers preferential interest rates on various SBI loan products, along with waivers on annual charges, processing fees and other applicable costs.

The MoU also provides significant support to families of deceased police personnel. In the event of death, families will be entitled to free add-on covers, including expenses for air ambulance services, child education and marriage of a girl child, among other benefits. Several of these facilities will continue even after the superannuation of the employee.

All benefits under the revised MoU will be automatically extended to all Andaman and Nicobar Police personnel covered under the Police Salary Package.

The initiative has been undertaken as part of the welfare measures aimed at strengthening financial security and well-being of police personnel and their families in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
