As part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) will undertake ceremonial illumination of ships, adding to the festive spirit and visual appeal of the waterfront in Sri Vijaya Puram.
According to the Headquarters, Andaman and Nicobar Command, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard ships under the ANC, along with vessels of the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), anchored off Flag Point, will be illuminated to mark the national occasion. The initiative is aimed at highlighting the significance of Republic Day while enhancing the ambience along the city’s waterfront during the celebrations.
The illumination of ships is scheduled to take place on January 26 and January 29, 2026. On both days, the vessels will remain illuminated from 5.45 pm to 10.00 pm, offering a striking visual spectacle for residents and visitors alike.
The illuminated ships will be clearly visible from the Marina Park waterfront facing Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, contributing to the overall grandeur of the Republic Day festivities in the capital. A press release from the Andaman & Nicobar Command stated that the ceremonial illumination forms part of the Command’s efforts to engage the public and commemorate the spirit of the Republic in a fitting manner.
