Andaman and Nicobar Islands achieved 80%+ second dose COVID-19 vaccination of its eligible beneficiaries (above the age of 18 years) recently. This is no ordinary feat and the Health Care Workers, entire Administration, NGOs and the general public should be lauded for the achievement.
According to the health bulletin of Andaman and Nicobar Islands dated 21st November 2021 released by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration 2,38,520 people in the Islands have received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccination.
Altogether, 2,95,804 beneficiaries have received their first dose of COVID-19 Vaccination in Andaman and Nicobar Islands which is 103.43% of the target beneficiaries approximated by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
Altogether, 5,34,324 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the Islands till 21st of November 2021.
Nicobar Times first hand witnessed HCWs from PHC Campbell Bay visiting the Kamal Basthi area to vaccinate the bedridden and disabled beneficiaries who are unable to visit the vaccination centre to get themselves vaccinated.
The HCWs who visited the houses of bedridden and disabled workers were very courteous and friendly with the families.
Sources have informed Nicobar Times that this kind of door to door visit to facilitate vaccination of the bedridden and disabled beneficiaries are going on at all areas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Andaman and Nicobar Administration along with the Directorate of Health Services, NGOs and other organisations has so far organised a very systematic vaccination campaign throughout the Islands.
It is not far away when the entire eligible population of Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be fully vaccinated.
