The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A&N Administration, has taken a significant step towards nurturing responsible tourism by formulating a draft Caravan Tourism Policy. This policy aims to regulate and boost Caravan Tourism in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands while maintaining a delicate equilibrium between enhancing tourism opportunities and preserving the islands’ ecological integrity.

In line with the administration’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive tourism practices, the public, tourism stakeholders, and government departments are cordially invited to contribute their suggestions, inputs, and comments on the draft policy.

Caravan Tourism, known for its eco-friendly approach, offers an immersive way to experience the Islands’ natural splendour, stunning beaches, and vibrant culture. The drafted Caravan Policy is designed to lay the groundwork for a balanced approach that simultaneously stimulates tourism growth and safeguards the delicate ecological equilibrium of these pristine islands.

The draft policy is currently available for review on the official website of the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (https://www.andamantourism.gov.in). It outlines key aspects of Caravan Tourism, including regulations, guidelines, and practices to ensure the sustained well-being of the Islands’ environment and culture.

As the Andaman and Nicobar Islands strive to become a beacon of sustainable tourism, the administration recognises the importance of gathering insights from a wide spectrum of voices. Therefore, the public, tourism stakeholders, and various government departments are encouraged to actively engage in this participatory process.

Interested parties have a 30-day window, from August 12 to September 12, 2023, to submit their valuable comments, suggestions, and inputs to the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism.
