In a commendable move aimed at easing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in reaching the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC Brookshabad), Andaman and Nicobar Islands Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has sanctioned the purchase of a special bus. The decision, funded through the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), is set to significantly alleviate the struggles faced by Divyang brothers and sisters and their families in accessing crucial rehabilitation services.

The initiative was prompted by concerns raised by parents of Divyang children, who highlighted the persistent difficulties in reaching the CRC Brookshabad. Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, acknowledging the regular challenges faced by Divyang Islanders and their parents, recognised the need for a more accessible mode of transportation.

Observing the hardships faced by Divyang individuals, especially the difficulties associated with using regular buses for rehabilitation sessions, Mr. Sharma noted that many parents resorted to booking autos and other vehicles. However, this approach not only proved to be time-consuming but also financially burdensome for numerous families.

To address these challenges, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has approved the allocation of approximately Rs. 32,00,000 (Thirty-Two Lakhs Rupees) from the MPLADS fund for the purchase and supply of a special bus dedicated to serving the needs of Divyang Islanders. The specially-equipped bus will feature provisions tailored to the unique requirements of persons with disabilities, providing a more inclusive and accessible means of transportation for all their needs.

This forward-thinking initiative is expected to enhance the overall accessibility and inclusivity of rehabilitation services at CRC Brookshabad, ultimately improving the quality of life for Divyang individuals and their families in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
