The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are set to host grand three-day Parakram Diwas celebrations from January 23 to 25, 2026, commemorating the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The celebrations are being organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, with a series of cultural, educational and technology-driven events highlighting the life, ideology and legacy of the legendary freedom fighter.
The celebrations will be formally inaugurated on January 23, 2026, at 4.00 pm at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram. Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the programme will be held in the august presence of Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands .
National Exhibition on Life and Legacy of Netaji
A key highlight of Parakram Diwas 2026 is the National Exhibition on the Life and Legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, curated by the Anthropological Survey of India (AnSI) under the Ministry of Culture. The exhibition will be inaugurated on January 23, 2026, at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and will remain open to the public till February 22, 2026, for a period of 30 days.
The exhibition aims to offer visitors an in-depth understanding of Netaji’s leadership, ideology, role in the Indian National Army, and his historic association with the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which he symbolically renamed Shaheed and Swaraj Islands during the freedom movement.
Cultural Performances, Musical Tribute and Drone Show
The inaugural day celebrations will feature a grand cultural programme titled “Subhas Sangeetanjali”, a musical tribute dedicated to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, at the Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram. The programme will bring together celebrated artists and musicians from across the country, showcasing a blend of classical, folk and contemporary music inspired by patriotism and Netaji’s life.
The stellar lineup includes Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Papon, Pratibha Singh Baghel, Raghu Dixit, Amaan Ali Bangash, Ayaan Ali Bangash and Mangli. The programme has been conceptualised, performed and directed by Sourendro–Soumyojit.
Adding a technological dimension to the celebrations, a spectacular Parakram Diwas Drone Show will also be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium. The drone display, described as a “sky-high tribute for a fearless leader”, will depict iconic visuals associated with Netaji’s life, courage and sacrifice. The event will also include an AR/VR show on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, offering visitors an immersive historical experience.

Through a combination of a national exhibition, large-scale cultural performances, a musical tribute, and cutting-edge drone and immersive technology, Parakram Diwas 2026 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands seeks to honour the indomitable spirit and enduring legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The celebrations underline the historic significance of the islands in India’s freedom struggle and aim to inspire citizens, particularly the youth, with Netaji’s ideals of courage, sacrifice and nationalism.
